how to guide

In this guide I'm gong to show you how to access premier pro and how to properly have all of your editing soft-where and resources.

  • Logging on and 'local logins' and why we use them instead of network logins: we use local logins instead of a network login is because the video files that are used in editing are rather large  and sending them over a network would be too cumbersome and take some time for the file to go across networks that means that play back would be stuttery.
  • In this screen shot you can see that I have the SD card inserted into the computer and in the screen shot i have it selected then I proceeded to move them over to the local storage drive as if i where to drag them into Premier Pro straight from the SD card it would be pulling the data from the card and only the card. So if i were to eject the card by right clicking onto it and selecting eject all the video files on Premier pro won't be on there as the computer is trying to search for files that are not on the drive.
  •  Now. In the industry they have to use files to order whats happening such as, if they were to film 12 shots on xx/xx/xxxx they would make a folder called that and what the shots are used for so when they get to the cutting room floor they can be easily identified and sorted, edited and then sent away as a final cut
  • transferring data from the SD card to the mac is as simple as copying the file and then putting it into its own file, this is because when you move across the data from the SD card you are making a copy of the items on the file. if you instead drag the files straight from the SD to the editing soft where, all you are doing is making a path to the SD card and no where else. so when you pull the SD card to you're just removing the only path way to the files from your project
  • when setting up premier pro with the correct settings. when setting up Pro you have to make sure that when you save the project that you call it an appropriate name and then save it in a respective location that you can find easily as if you don't you could loose all the work that you have done, you also need to make sure that the saving settings are right so when it comes to extracting or exporting your video it could end up being in the wrong resolution and make it look grainy
