Technical skills tasks: Lighting, camera skills, sound

 Lighting

In the lighting task we set up 3 LED lights that where all pointing at one chair, along side this we also has some laminated colour sheets to put in front of the lights which intern changed the projected colour to ie red or blue. we mixed and matched these colours to create different lighting effects. as you can see by the image here we put blue and red on the lights to make a cold and warm feeling. we then messed with the colour slider on the backs of the lights changing it from a bright ice white to a more yellow colour, this changed the projected colour from the laminated sheets, lighter or slightly darker

Camera skills

In the camera skills task we had to do single camera 3 times, multi cam 3 and then film a master shot with a close up somewhere in there. we had a script to read off and we set up 3 cameras for multi cam, we started with the single cam and we just filmed the guy at the computer typing in the numbers, then with the master shot we had a full over look of the scene where you can see everyone in shot. With the multi cam you can see the action from different angles making it so you can see things that happen from different angles, and with the close up we took a shoulder brace and attached a camera to it and got in close to the action, this gave a more personal feel towards the actor that we are close too.

Sound

With the sound portion of the skills we experimented with different sound recording systems, these where. the camera microphones itself, a handheld Tascam, and a boom mic with audio recording. when we recorded with the camera audio and when we listened back to it, the audio was very shoddy and unclear as the wind was blowing against it muffling the audio. the Tascam was a lot more clear because it had a bidirectional microphone which captured things more clearly. the final recording set up was the boom mic. the boom mic is a lot clearer as it has a "dead cat" muffling device covering the microphone making the wind blowing against the mic not as loud as it was. the audio too was very clear but it has to be pointed at someone directly in order to pic up anything someone says
