Evaluation: Corporate Video Production
- What was the task (overall)?, include details of the brief and the clients. the task that my partner and I undertook is to show off a huge range of curriculums ranging from art all the way too football and E-sports. our wonderful clients were very specific on what they wanted us to show off, one of them. Jill. wanted us to originally show off 5 mins of her course which wouldn't work with the time constraints that we had on us (the video had to have been around 2-2:25 minuets long) so we then decided for her to do a speech that she did so we could have her narrating over her courses she teaches. we did this with a few other too so people who viewed the video wouldn't be bored out of their mind watching the video.
- What was your specific, allocated, role? I was doing many roles through out the whole process of making the corporate video. These varied from going too meetings and seeing what certain departments wanted to have shown in the video, i also did location recess which involved me and my partner going around the college campus looking into what rooms we'd need and how we could film in them, we also did this so we could location releases and risk assessments. which are crucial in the making of any moving image product.
- What did you have to do (specifically?)In the whole grand scheme of the video. The most promenade role that i did was filming as it took a large majority of the work time up due to the fact we had to film a large amount of work over the 3 weeks of filming we had to get done.
- What was you favorite aspect of the task? Include more than one thing, if appropriate. My favorite aspect of filming the video is that I got to go into several different classrooms and got to see how other courses work and what goes into each lesson, i liked it because it educated me on the myriad of other courses that are available to other students at the college if that wish to peruse them.
- What was the most challenging aspect of the task? Include more than one thing, if appropriate. Their are a few things that where challenging when making the video. these stemmed from missing meetings to filming issues, editing issues and schedule clashes. the most annoying part of making the film was the filming, this was because whilst setting up and then filming we had some students looking back and into the camera or messing around in general which really messed up the shot.
- What do you feel you took from the project? e.g., what will you reflect on as being particularly useful / developmental? i took from the the project is that when people come through college they should branch out and see what other amazing courses that the college has to offer, and if i could ever get the chance to re do all of my college years again, i would love to and branch out more when choosing my courses
- What would you change of you were to undertake the task again? i would personally change the focus of our work, this is because whilst i loved going around to all the different courses i never really got too see how they all act and work rather than just standing in the class with a camera and filing for 10-15 minuets then leaving. never to return to the class.
- In what ways can you choose to present feedback / a review of your work and which have you used / experienced during this unit? i chose too look back at my work using blogger because it allows me to put in videos links code and images seamlessly
- What constraints did you experience when researching, planning, filming and editing your corporate video? Please comment upon;
- legal. in one of our shoots in the gym hall we had some filming issues that we where not told about prier to filing in the gym hall. one of the students couldn't be filmed for reasons unknown but luckily we had not captured him in any of our footage.
- regulatory. we didn't have any problems with the BBFC or OFCOM as we didn't breach any codes that they had up.
- financial. we did not have any problems money wise as we didn't really buy anything and anything that we did need was provided by the college for free which was amazing
- organizational. we didn't have any organizational issues
- How well did you and your partner manage the task? Please comment upon;
- time management and working to agreed timescales. i think personally that me and my partners time management skills where a bit iffy at the start of the project but as time went on they go a lot better through out the production of the video
- leadership skills. the leadership skills follow the same tragedy of the time management skills but as we went through it, they became better all around as we knew what we where doing better
- communication and communications when making our video we have several communication issues mainly with teachers not knowing what they wanted us to show off to the college, the other issue where mostly because i wasn't communicating with my partner enough
- meeting the requirements of the brief and achieving agreed outcomes when we where making the video we had some heavy time constraints that hindered what we could've done. one of out clients wanted to show off way too much which was a huge issue as we had such a delicate time frame that we had to stick too like a magnet to metal
- recommendations for future tasks (areas for improvement and areas of strength)
- Feedback - please comment upon feedback, both from peers, teachers and the clients and based on self-reflection;
- peers the reflection of the peer to peer evaluation was very positive, people liked what they saw and what we where showing off to them, the only criticism is that some sections where very bland and boring
- client. the clients liked what we have and really they seemed to like the product that we had given into them. they said that the video has some nice music in the background and the voice over that some of the teacher have provided for us. one of the things that they really liked was the camera angles and the shots that we provided that none of the other videos showed off.
- teacher.
- partner. my partner really liked our video as we both put time and effort into the final product which made it more enjoyable for him too enjoy it I think personally and the finish product was better because of it
- your own reflection, including an assessment of your suitability for a position in corporate video production. I liked the video that we made and the final product. I liked how the whole curve of the video flowed nicely. i really like the part where we show off the sports section because its one of the better shot things of the video. the music we used really fits the tone of what we are trying to tell people. the voice overs really fit their sections that they're placed over
